Çağrı Yılmaz

His interest in music started early on thanks to his “Baglama” player father. He started playing guitar in elementary school and started singing in high school. Since then he has sung in many styles including rock, funk and R&B. In 2012 he received a degree as an honor student from the prestigious Middle East Technical University Civil Engineering Department. His interest in jazz began during his years at the University where he had the opportunity to study voice with Yıldız İbrahimova. He played guitar with the METU Big Band conducted by Ümit Eroğlu. Meanwhile, he participated as a tenor voice in the choirs of Turkey Polyphonic Choirs Association. He sang with Encore Jazz Vocal Ensemble between 2009 and 2012. He went to the Pulawy Jazz Workshop in Poland in 2011 and also studied with Sibel Köse and Bogdan Holownia. In 2014, he participated in the Nardis Jazz Club Young Singers Competition in Turkey and won one of the performance prizes. Towards the end of his college years, he found the chance to work with a multi-awarded jazz vocalist, Meltem Ege, for 3 years.
